Climbing High, Kicking Back, and Tahoe Traditions

There’s something about Lake Tahoe that hits different in the summer. Maybe it’s the cool mornings, the pine-filtered sunshine, or the perfect mix of adventure and stillness.

One of the biggest highlights was spending a day at Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park. If you’ve never been, think of it as an aerial obstacle course tucked into the forest canopy—wooden platforms strung together by wobbly bridges, swinging logs, rope nets, and plenty of zip lines. It’s not a “ride”—you’re in it, clipped in, climbing, balancing, and laughing the entire time.

The girls love this park and always go straight for the hardest runs. They make the black diamond courses look easy. Brooke even conquered the toughest course, Cliffhanger, wrapping it up just before a summer storm rolled in.

We also got to enjoy a more luxurious side of the lake when friends invited us to spend a day at the Tahoe Beach Club. The kids dove into air hockey and crafts in the kids’ club while the adults soaked up the view from the beach and hot tub. A leisurely lunch, an afternoon swim, and nothing on the agenda made it one of the most relaxing days of the trip.

And of course, no trip to South Lake Tahoe is complete without a visit to Basecamp Pizza. It’s our go-to—and everyone else’s too, based on the wait time. We always plan ahead and hit up Baked Bear for dessert before dinner. Their ice cream sandwiches are unreal. Once seated, we enjoyed our favorite pizzas outside while listening to live music. South Lake energy at its best.
