Bulls-Eyes and Shakespeare: An Unexpectedly Perfect Tahoe Afternoon

One of the things we love most about our time in Lake Tahoe is finding new adventures while still making time for some of our favorite traditions.

None of us had much experience with archery, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. Our instructor made everyone feel comfortable, walking us through the basics before we stepped up to the targets. It didn’t take long before we were all improving—and getting a little competitive.

The girls were fearless, cheering each other on and celebrating every great shot. There were plenty of laughs, a few bullseyes, and lots of memories made. It was one of those activities that’s just challenging enough to make it exciting while still being fun for the whole family.

After a relaxing afternoon back at the cabin, Chris and I headed out for one of our favorite annual Tahoe traditions while the girls stayed behind with family.

Every summer, we make time for a performance at the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival at Sand Harbor, and every year features a different production. This year’s performance was Macbeth. We always arrive early to enjoy the incredible setting. Watching the sun slowly set over Lake Tahoe before the show begins is almost as memorable as the performance itself. With the stage just steps from the water and the Sierra Nevada mountains surrounding the lake, it’s easily one of the most beautiful outdoor theaters we’ve ever visited.

As darkness settled in, Macbeth came to life under the stars. It’s hard to think of a better date night than live theater in such an unforgettable setting.

The day was the perfect combination of trying something new as a family and enjoying a favorite adults-only tradition that we look forward to every summer. Those are the moments that keep bringing us back to Lake Tahoe year after year.
